Beverage-Air® headquarters in Winston-Salem, NC

Like FRS, Beverage-Air® is headquartered in the Carolinas. Located in Winston-Salem, NC, the company was founded in 1944 by John Buffington and was originally located in Punxsutawney, PA. John became a leader in the foodservice industry by inventing the first horizontal, forced-air bottle cooler for which he filed the patent almost 70 years ago. The company was then known as The Punxsutawney Company with a trade name of “Beverage-Air.” In 1946 John brought in his brother Herman Buffington to help grow the business. By the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, Beverage-Air® was a nationwide commercial brand. Throughout the years, the company has built several manufacturing facilities (in Spartanburg, SC; Brookville, PA and Honea Path, SC) and has also gone through a few changes in ownership. The Ali Group, a global leader in the foodservice equipment industry (consisting of 76 brands worldwide), acquired Beverage-Air® in 2008. The corporate headquarters was relocated to a newly constructed, LEED® certified facility in Winston-Salem in 2010 as part of the Ali Group North America Campus.
