Original FRS Charleston Employees Celebrate 22 Years

Our corporate headquarters is in Charleston, SC, but many people may not know that we actually got our start in Florence, SC more than 50 years ago. FRS President, Don Ball, acquired what was then called "Florence Restaurant Supply" back in 1988. Ball was (and still is) an active member of NAFED, the National Association of Food Equipment Dealers. It is through his relationship with NAFED that Ball met Carl Novit, and that was the catalyst for FRS to become what it is today.

At the time, Novit was working for Charleston-based ACME Restaurant Supply. ACME was looking to sell, and the two decided to join forces. On December 8, 1995, Ball and Novit purchased ACME and brought it under the FRS umbrella. One ACME employee, Thomas Coleman, came over to FRS with Novit.

The three became the original FRS Charleston employees, and we are thankful for their 22 years of commitment to our organization. Novit is the Vice President of FRS Corporate, and Coleman is the Operations Supervisor as well as a Sales Representative for the FRS Charleston showroom. In 2012, Ball moved his family to Charleston which became our new home for FRS Corporate.

FRS now stands for "Foodservice & Restaurant Supply" and has grown to four locations in the Carolinas: Asheville, Charleston, Columbia and Florence. While we have become a regional provider, our focus is to be a local partner which can be trusted in each market that we serve.
